George Lucas: #1 A Difficult Journey

Here we are! Let's talk about Mr. George Lucas.

He was born on May 14th 1944 in Modesto, California. He is passionate by car races and later by photography. In June 1962, he has a very bad car accident and everybody think he is dead.

He wants to learn photography but has troubles to finance the studies. His Dad finally accepts to pay for filmmaking classes because George is accepted at USC. George Lucas meets Robert Dalva and... Walter Murch, both editors. His student films are mainly about freedom. At the screening of his Thesis film "THX 1138 4EB", many people are in the theater, included... Mr. Steven Spielberg.

Walter Murch and George Lucas are in competition to get an internship at the Warner Brothers. George Lucas gets the job and meets Francis Ford Coppola. They become friends and create a production company in San Francisco: American Zoetrope. The company needs to buy Post Production equipment. When they receive it, they need an editor to install and take care of that equipment. George Lucas calls... Walter Murch.

Then, George Lucas directs his first feature film. "THX 1138" with Robert Duvall as the main character. It's a longer version of his Thesis Film. George Lucas and his friend met at USC, John Millius start to work on a new script for the company. It's called "Apocalypse Now".

On y est! Parlons de M. George Lucas.

Il est né le 14 mai 1944 à Modesto en Californie. Il est passionné de course automobile et un peu plus tard, pas la photographie. En juin 1962, il a un grave accident de voiture. Tout le monde le croit mort.

Il veut apprendre la photographie mais a des problèmes à financer les cours. En apprenant qu'il est accepté à USC, son papa accepte finalement de payer pour des cours de cinéma. George Lucas rencontre Robert Dalva et... Walter Murch, tous deux son monteurs. Ses films d'étudiant sont principalement sur la liberté. A la projection de son film final "THX 1138 4EB", beaucoup de monde dans la salle, y compris... M. Steven Spielberg.

Walter Murch et George Lucas sont en compétition pour un stage à la Warner Brothers. George Lucas obtient le travail et rencontre Francis Ford Coppola. Ils deviennet amis et créent un entreprise de production à San Francisco: American Zoetrope. L'entreprise a besoin d'équipement de post production.
